ABOUT The APP Space
What does it mean to be "a place for Art, Philosophy, and Practice"?
What does it mean to be "a place for Art, Philosophy, and Practice"?
Several years ago, I began going out to the beach with only my camera, taking a walk and collecting things, creating a picture/sculpture, photographing it, then scattering the pieces. I called what I created Seaweed Washashores, and I described them as part art, part philosophy, and part practice all about Showing Up, Engaging Fully, and Letting Go.
Over the last couple of years, I've come to use that language to describe not only my work more broadly, but something about my own journey over the last 6 years, and a framework for thinking about what we might call an 'authentic' or 'undivided' life.
I've had something of an "AHA!" moment, and it's going to take a bit of time to fully articulate what this all means to me, for me, and perhaps even for you.

For now, this is perhaps what's most important to know:
When I speak of Art, Philosophy, and Practice, I am thinking of
- Art as anything we create; anything that exists in a form it did not have before we intervened
- Philosophy as our beliefs, values, guiding principles, personal paradigm, the way we believe the world works
- Practice as behavior, what we actually do: how we spend our time, they ways we interact with others, day to day, moment to moment behavior.
